Reverse Osmosis Desalination Plant
The reverse osmosis desalination plant is intended to produce the drinking water and industrial water from seawater or brackish water economically. It can also be applied to the improvement of drinking water quality to remove the harmful substances such as trihalomethane, nitrogen, etc., of which contamination in water has become a problem in these days, and further to the recovery of water from secondary treated water of sewage.
- SS removal ratio: Approx.100%
- Dissolved component removal ratio: 90-99% or over (May be changed, depending on the type of reverse osmosis membrane used)
- Treatment cost: ½-2/3 of evaporation method
Reverse Osmosis Desalination Plant
Principle
The reverse osmosis method is an ultra-fine (molecular size level) filtration method for obtaining from an aqueous solution using a semi-permeable membrane which allows water to pass through it but does not permit the passage of other ions and molecules in the solution. In this process, after performing pretreatment of raw water such as removal of suspended solids by sand filter, etc. and addition of pH adjustment agent, etc. for protection of the membrane, a pressure higher than its osmotic pressure is applied to the pretreated water and then it is fed to the membrane (reverse osmosis module), so as to recover the drinking water level water or to concentrate and recover the solute components.

2) Mine wastewater treatment
3) Each industrial wastewater treatment
4) Radioactive wastewater treatment
Reverse Osmosis Desalination Plant
Features
- Since the high-speed three-layer filter adopted as a filter for pre-treatment section can ensure the high-speed and stabilized operation against highly turbid raw water, it is possible to operate the equipment stably for a long time, thus assuring the equipment of high reliability.
- The reverse osmosis desalination plant is flexibly designed by selecting the optimum reverse osmosis membrane, depending on the type of raw water and purpose of treatment, to meet the users’ needs.
- The reverse osmosis membrane is intended not only to separate the dissolved salt but also to remove the organics, colloids, bacteria, etc., thus it is possible to obtain extremely high-quality water.
- Since the reverse osmosis desalination method is a mechanical separation method which is not accompanied by a change in phase as compared with the evaporation method, etc., it is an economical process which requires limited energy consumption and limited amount of chemicals used.
- Since the reverse osmosis membrane can be packaged three-dimensionally, it can be assembled as a compact system having high volume efficiency.
- The reverse osmosis desalination plant can be operated and maintained easily, as the basic process itself is simple.
